With the success of last year’s book drive, where we raised approximately 300 books for the Aboriginal Literacy Foundation, we are excited to announce that we will be running the book drive again this year!
As schools grow and student numbers increase, we are always in need of good quality resources. Alhamdulillah, now that we have a bigger resource room at the College, our next book drive will be collecting for Al Siraat College during the month of Ramadan!
This is our time as Muslims to have our good deeds multiplied in this sacred month. The Book Drive has been running from Wednesday, 16 May 2018.
The Book Drive will CLOSE THIS FRIDAY, 8 June 2018.
Each student is asked to bring in a book either new or used, however the following guidelines need to be adhered to:
Age levels: Suitable for children from 5 – 15 years of age.
We cannot accept books that have:
- Binding that is frayed
- Cover and pages that are torn or missing
- Food stains
- Been chewed on
- Been written in or highlighted
- Mould, dirt or water damage
- Battery operated sounds.
- An accompanying CD, but CD is missing.
Or that are:
- Novels or books directed at an adult audience or containing adult content
- Religious material
- Home decorating or gardening books, craft books, financial guides
- Medical, technical and scientific books
- Educational textbooks
- Library books
As a school, we are excited that our students can donate their preloved books during the holy month of Ramadan and benefit other students at the College in the process. Please pass your preloved book to your child’s classroom teacher between the above dates. Jazakhallah for your support in our school’s second book drive!
