Al Siraat kicked off National Literacy and Numeracy Week with an exciting assembly where students and teachers dressed up as book characters.
Staff choose to go with famous "Harry Potter" characters like Albus Dumbledore, Prof. Snape, Prof. McGonagall, Lucius Malfoy, Beatrix Lestrange and of course, Harry Potter and his loyal side-kick friend Hermione Granger. Various other characters also made an appearance, including Shrek, Snow White, a Jedi Knight, Anna and Olaf from "Frozen", Cleopatra, the Cat in the Hat and Thing1 and Thing2 from Dr Seus.

We also had a visit from Literacy Planet as we had won the Word Mania competition in the Melbourne North Region in all year level categories. There will be competitions and quizzes throughout the week with exciting prizes up for grabs for students in promoting literacy and numeracy at the College.
