Junior School Sports Carnival and Fun Run

26 April 2016

The 2016 Sports Carnival hits Sky High!

In its fourth consecutive year, the 2016 Sports Carnival was bigger and better. The event commenced with the traditional opening by Mr Houghton and a beautiful Qur'an recitation by Sheikh Ahmad Hachem. This year the Carnival also hosted the school Fun Run, which was an added delight that had even parents running.

To kick-start the healthy competition, students from Foundation to year 11 competed in each of the novelty events, each event challenging all ages in what was a thrilling, exciting and eventful start to the carnival. House team colours looked vibrant and animated, even from 20 metres up in the air. That’s right, the school drone was sent to the sky to capture an aerial view of the action below.

At the first break, students were treated with a healthy snack and returned to more fun and games. Primary students participated in the Fun Run, as well as bounced around in, not one, but two jumping castles, while secondary students participated in Volleyball and Basketball tournaments.

As the event was drawing to a close, there was yet one last thing to announce. Students waited in assembly for the announcement of the 2016 House team winner. In a remarkable twist, last years winners, House Mina (Green) ended the day in fourth place, with Team Marwa (Yellow) in Third. However:

It was House Arafat (Blue) who, by the smallest of margins, managed to lead and take the 2016 title.

House Safa (Red) just missed out, yet their efforts will not go unnoticed.

All praise and thanks is to Allah, whom without Him nothing could have come to be. Congratulations to all students, teachers and parents who were involved, and a big thank you to Mr Saleh and Ms Tannous for their amazing efforts and hard work.

We look forward to an even greater and more exhilarating event in 2017! InshaAllah.
