The first Inter Islamic High School Conference took place at the Australian International Academy Senior campus in Coburg in partnership with Podium, a not-for-profit Muslim Youth Organisation that aims to amplify the voices of Muslim youth.
Our Senior Year 11/12 students, along with selected Year 10 students, attendedthis one-day conference. It aimed to provide a platform for Muslim youth to express their perspectives and share their experiences. It included the following activities:
- Keynote Speech: Dr Tesneem Alkiek, PhD in Islamic Law and Director of Expanded Learning and Content Strategy at Yaqeen Institute, delivered a keynote speech on Values Workshop. Dr. Alkiek extensive knowledge and expertise in Islamic Studies provided valuable insights for the students.
- Workshops: Following the keynote speech, students had the opportunity to participate in a series of workshops facilitated by Podium staff. These workshops covered various topics and allowed students to choose areas of interest for further exploration.
- Q&A Session: Towards the end of the conference, students engaged in a question-and-answer session with Sheikh Belal Assad and Dr Tesneem Alkiek. This interactive session provided a unique opportunity for students to seek clarification, gain deeper insights, and foster meaningful discussions.
The conference served as an excellent opportunity for our Senior students to connect with their Muslim peers from other Islamic schools, fostering a sense of community and enabling them to embark on a spiritual journey together while deepening their understanding of Islam.
