Semester 1 Reports: New Format

As part of our commitment to improve the quality of feedback to both students and parents, we have been working throughout Semester One to modify the end of semester reports. The new report will include a developmental continuum for attitudes to learning. We will also have a developmental continuum for Secondary Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities and Quran.

The grading associated with the new continuum moves beyond just a letter grade or simple statements of ‘good’, ‘very good’, to a description of students’ learning identifying where they are currently placed and what the next level of improvement would look like.

The category headings of Disengaged, Compliant, Reflective and Exemplary have been used to expand the current predominant student culture that ‘Compliance’ is the highest level of attainment the College expects. As you will see from the continuum it is in fact the first step beyond disengagement. We strive to have all students become self-reflective learners aspiring to personal best.

I look forward to receiving feedback on the new format and working with the community to ensure our reports are informative and used to improve student learning.

The final layout of the information is still being prepared by SEQTA. The reports will be handed to students in the first week of Term 3, with Parent Teacher Interviews being held at the end of the second week, Friday 28 July.
