Join the Islamic Museum of Australia (IMA) for a special women’s evening celebrating Somali culture, creativity and community through the generational art of traditional weaving.

10 Oct: Threads of Home – Somali Weaving Workshop

Led by self-taught Somali artisan Muhubo Sulieman, you’ll learn the foundations of Somali weaving and create your own alool,  a traditional woven wall hanging, to take home.

Along the way, discover the history and cultural significance behind the craft, enjoy delicious food and an inspiring keynote, and connect with other women in a warm and welcoming space.
