Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC) is starting a new online soccer program for young people (15-25 years) who live, work, study or play in Whittlesea. They are working with Melbourne City FC & Australian goalkeeper (former Matildas captain), Melissa Barbieri, to develop some videos of skills and techniques that can be practiced at home. These can be adapted to wherever you are practicing such as outdoors in the backyard, at a park or even in your living room. Melissa will also be dropping into a few of the weekly online Zoom sessions WCC will be holding!
Lachlan and Sarah at Banyule Community Health will also drop in frequently to check in on the wellbeing of young people and disseminate gambling prevention information, resources and how they can help.
Zoom sessions will run on Tuesdays starting next week Tuesday 12 May 2020.
Zoom sessions times:
- 4:00 – 5:15 pm – Girls only (any WCC staff and guests will also be female)
- 5:15 – 6:30 pm – Boys only
WCC can provide a soccer ball to the participant if they don’t already have access to one. All skill levels welcome, including those who have never played soccer but would like to give it a go!
WCC will revert to running an outdoor soccer program once the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so.
