Following the recent local grassfire last weekend, we are reminded how quickly conditions can change during summer. Fire preparedness is not optional, it is essential for every family in our school community.
• Download the VicEmergency App and set up your Watch Zone.• Check daily weather forecasts and fire danger ratings.• Have a clear household emergency plan.
Grassfires can start and spread quickly.
• Call 000 only if you see flames and smoke.• If you live next to grassland, walk two streets back to a safer area.• If you live two or three streets away, stay where you are.
• Keep cool using air conditioning or fans and avoid the hottest part of the day.• Drink water regularly.• Check on family, neighbours and vulnerable people.• Take care around pools and waterways.
Never leave children, older people or pets in parked cars.
