- Daily 5 in action – Students to read to self, to someone and listen to reading
- Scholastic Book Fair
- Selected students to read part of their favourite story in assembly
- Guessing Nursery Rhymes and Book Titles
- Design a new book cover for their favourite book.
- Character Parade
- Estimating Jelly Beans in a Jar
The highlights of the week are:
Monday, 4 September 2017
On Monday, students will take part in guessing how many jellybeans are in the jars. The closest guess will get to take away the whole jellybean jar to enjoy with family/friends.
BOOK CHARACTER PARADE
Thursday, 7 September 2017
Al Siraat College will host a Storybook Character Parade for all Junior School students. We encourage students to dress up as their favourite storybook character. Students who are dressed as a Storybook Character will walk in the parade with their classes. Students may choose any character from a book they enjoy following the guidelines in this letter. To support students’ feelings of safety and security at school, violent or frightening costumes are not acceptable. No weapons or dangerous-looking items will be permitted to accompany a costume. All costumes are required to adhere to the Islamic dress-code (costumes must be loose and non-see through).
Please talk with your child about how he or she would like to participate in this event, and mark your calendars! See your child’s teacher for further information.
PYJAMA DAY PICNIC (for Foundation, Year 1 & Year 2 only)

A variety of books are available for purchase at the book fair at affordable prices. Your child may purchase books and attractive stationery during lunch time and after school hours.
