Child Safety Matters: Working with Children Check

The Parents and Friends Forum (PFF) of the College would like to sincerely welcome everyone to the new school year. We are hoping to see our familiar faces and many new faces this year volunteering their time to benefit their children and the school. If you are interested in volunteering whether it is in a large capacity or small, please send an email to pff@alsiraat.vic.edu.au

As parents and carers, child safety matters and is of utmost importance to us. This is why we would like to remind our parent volunteers that they are legally required to present a valid Working with Children Check (WCC): If you plan on doing child-related work, you must obtain a check first. You also require a Check if you are working with children other than your own, unless you are exempt.

The Check assists in protecting your child from sexual or physical harm by screening the criminal records and professional conduct of people doing child-related work. When a person passes the Check, it means that the Department of Justice and Regulation has determined that they do not pose an unjustifiable risk to children.

Applying for the Check is easy and won't take much of your time. Once you have received your WCC, kindly submit a copy of it to the College for their records.

If you need any help or assistance with filling out the form, please do not hesitate to contact me as per my details below. Thank you all for putting our children’s safety first!
