Great Women of Islam High Tea Function

Last Friday, 6 March 2020 marked International Women’s Day when sisters in our community came together for our "Great Women of Islam High Tea" function.

For the evening, we had four wonderful student representatives: Year 12 students Hooda Mohammed Emin and Asma Mohamed were our MC’s for the night while Mariam Rashid (Year 9) was our guest speaker who talked about great women in Islamic history, and Hani Farzan (Year 9) recited a beautiful Ayah about women along with English translation.

We were fortunate to have Sr. Manal Shehab as our inspiring guest speaker.

Nazish Khan from WOWED (Women of Whittlesea Embracing Diversity) announced the winner of the tickets to the Women’s Cricket Final: Congratulations to Majida Hamza.

Our wonderful volunteers Serap Bulli and Rachael Hussein hosted fun games and winners were presented with prizes. The evening concluded with henna, and the opportunity to get some calligraphy done.

On behalf of the PFF, I would like to personally thank all the volunteers who helped out on the evening and in the lead up to the evening. Events like these are not possible without the support of our beautiful and generous volunteers.

Would like to also thank Cake 'n Crumbs, Armadale Cakes and Fitnat Godfrey for the beautiful sweet treats on the evening. Special thanks to Jedda for providing her lovely Chai Tea for the ladies and also donating some packs of her Sun Down Chai for prizes.

We all had a wonderful night and we look forward to continuing this event again next year.
