Year 4 Wildlife Xposure Incursion

6 November 2025

On Thursday, 6th November, our Year 4 students enjoyed an exciting incursion with the knowledgeable and engaging Brandon from Wildlife Xposure. The session offered students a wonderful hands-on opportunity to meet and learn about some of Australia’s incredible native animals while exploring fascinating topics such as the food chain and animal survival.

Year 4 Wildlife Xposure Incursion

Students were captivated as they got to handle a variety of creatures, including two types of pythons, a laughing kookaburra, a shingleback lizard, a freshwater river turtle, a baby saltwater crocodile, a squirrel glider, a lace monitor (also known as a tree goanna) and even a burrowing bettong – one of Australia’s rarest native species, also known as a rat kangaroo, which has become locally extinct in many areas.

For some students, it was a thrilling chance to get up close to animals they had only ever seen from afar, while others showed great courage in overcoming their initial nerves.

Through this engaging experience, students gained a deeper understanding of how animals can belong to multiple food chains and the vital roles they play in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Thank you to Brandon for making these sessions both fun and inspiring!
