Year 6 Shark Tank Challenge Delivers the Year 1 & 2 Dojo Day

This semester, our Year 6 students embarked on an exciting and authentic learning experience through the Shark Tank Challenge. Working collaboratively in teams, they designed and planned a game booth for our Year 1 and Year 2 Dojo Day.

Year 6 Shark Tank Challenge Delivers the Year 1 & 2 Dojo Day

Throughout the project, students developed key skills in budgeting, teamwork, communication, problem solving, leadership, and critical thinking as they considered resources, refined their ideas, and created proposals that would appeal to both the younger students and the panel of “Sharks.” It was wonderful to see them demonstrate creativity, resilience, and determination throughout the planning process.

A highlight of the project was the Shark Tank presentations, where students confidently pitched their ideas and requested funding for their stalls. The Sharks challenged them to justify their decisions, consider risks, and think critically about their plans. While some groups secured additional funding and others had to rethink aspects of their proposal, every student gained valuable firsthand experience in entrepreneurship and real world problem solving. More importantly, they learned that success is not only about the final outcome, but also about perseverance, effort, and learning from setbacks.

The project culminated in a fantastic Dojo Day for our Year 1 and Year 2 students. The Year 6 students took ownership of their stalls, managed their activities independently, and worked tirelessly to ensure the younger students had an enjoyable experience. The smiles, laughter, and excitement throughout the day were a testament to the effort and preparation that had gone into the event.

Most importantly, it was heartening to witness our students displaying beautiful Islamic character through their patience, kindness, cooperation, and service to others. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented themselves and our school community.

May Allah (SWT) place barakah in the knowledge and skills they have gained, and may He continue to guide them to use their talents in ways that benefit others and bring goodness to the world around them. Ameen.

We thank all families for their support in making this authentic learning experience such a success.
