29 October 2026

How do we protect Australia’s most threatened wildlife and help endangered species survive in the wild? Our Year 9 students explored these questions during an engaging excursion to Healesville Sanctuary, focusing on biodiversity, sustainability and the biosphere.

Year 9 Science Excursion to Healesville Sanctuary

Students discovered how the sanctuary plays a vital role in breeding critically endangered species and reintroducing them into their native habitats. With a special focus on the Tasmanian devil, they learned about the challenges facing threatened wildlife and the dedicated conservation efforts helping give these remarkable native Australian animals a future in the wild.

The excursion provided valuable insights into the challenges facing threatened species and the important role conservation programs play in protecting biodiversity for future generations.
