On Thursday 29th May, our Year 7 and 8 LEAP students took to the city streets for a multicultural walking tour of Melbourne as part of their Inquiry Learning this term. Starting at Federation Square, the group explored key cultural and historical sites including Chinatown, the QV Centre, the city’s famous laneways, the Royal Arcade, and the Greek Precinct.

Along the way, students discovered how migration has shaped Melbourne’s identity, from early European influences to more recent arrivals.

The tour brought to life the sights, sounds, and stories of the many communities that contribute to our city’s rich cultural fabric.

It also offered students the chance to connect their classroom learning with real-world examples from our studies of Intercultural Understanding and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture.

Students engaged thoughtfully and represented our school with pride.

It was a valuable day of learning outside the classroom—and a meaningful step in deepening their understanding of Australia’s multicultural society.

Our thanks to the teachers and Learning Enrichment Team who organised the excursion and accompanied the students on their adventure.

We are delighted to share a moment of great joy and honour within our school community. Three of our dedicated Year 6 students: Harris, Abdul Fattah & Hamza have successfully memorised the Noble Qur’an Maasha`Allah, a remarkable and spiritually significant achievement that reflects outstanding dedication, patience, and love for the words of Allah (SWT).

Hifz Department is extremely proud of this accomplishment. It is a shining example of what can be achieved through sincere effort and the blessings of Allah. Memorising the Qur’an at such a young age is an extraordinary feat, and it fills our hearts with pride and gratitude to witness such commitment within our student body.

To honour this beautiful achievement, the students had the opportunity to recite during our secondary assembly and Community Jummah. Additionally they have been presented with a certificate and a token of appreciation during the morning Friday assembly on 30 May. We appreciate parents and students who joined us in celebrating this blessed occasion.

May Allah (SWT) preserve the Qur’an in the heart of this student, elevate their rank through it, and inspire others in our community to follow this noble path.

🖋️ Why learn Arabic calligraphy?

Arabic is the language of the Qur’an, and writing it beautifully is a form of worship and spiritual connection. Learning calligraphy not only improves your handwriting and understanding of the Arabic script, but also nurtures patience, focus, and a love for the beauty of Islam.

As Muslims, we have a responsibility to preserve and promote Islamic arts — they are part of our identity, our history, and our legacy. Through these courses, children and adults alike can connect with their faith in a creative and meaningful way.
