A group of Secondary students recently participated in the Interschool Islamic Chess Competition held at the AIA (Australian International Academy) Senior Campus.
Representing Al Siraat, six students competed in a full day of chess against students from various Islamic schools. The tournament followed a Swiss-format structure across six rounds, challenging students to think strategically, remain focused under pressure, and apply strong decision-making skills.
Beyond the competition, students enjoyed the opportunity to connect with peers from other schools and further develop their passion for chess in a supportive environment.
A special congratulations goes to Omar Yahya (Year 7 Online), who received a medal in recognition of his outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
We commend all participating students for representing the College with enthusiasm, respect, and excellent sportsmanship, and thank Mr Bayram for supporting students during the excursion.
This term’s School Sports Victoria (SSV) competitions kicked off at a breathtaking pace, with Al Siraat featuring two Netball teams, Boys AFL, and Boys and Girls European Handball.
SSV competitions continue to provide valuable opportunities for students to develop leadership, confidence, and teamwork while representing the College with pride and integrity.
Our first session was held the previous week, with Morang South PS hosting the matches. Last Friday, Al Siraat hosted Edgars Creek PS, competing in Netball and European Handball for both boys and girls, while the Boys AFL team had a bye.
Teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship were on full display as we celebrated outstanding success across the competitions. Both Team A and Team B Girls Netball achieved an incredible milestone, winning consecutively from last week and showcasing the College’s growing strength in the sport.
Throughout the day, students demonstrated exceptional skill, resilience, and commitment in all matches, consistently supporting one another and playing with great teamwork and enthusiasm.
The Boys European Handball team impressed with strong defensive plays, accurate passing, and excellent communication, securing a narrow and hard-fought victory against tough opposition. The Girls Handball team also delivered an outstanding performance, showing confidence and perseverance, though they were narrowly defeated by Edgars Creek. The team remains motivated to continue improving, inShaAllah.
These results reflect the students’ hard work in training and the dedication of our coaching staff and teachers, as well as the strong support of our school community.
Congratulations to all players for their effort and commitment. The entire College community is incredibly proud of your achievements and looks forward to future success.
Special thanks to our coaches: Mr Saleh, Mr Yakub (AFL), Mr Abdulrahman, Ms Rayan, Ms Alana (European Handball), Ms Franciscah, and Ms Zahra (Netball). Your dedication is greatly appreciated, and may Allah reward you for your efforts.
