What a wonderful week of reading, creativity, storytelling and community spirit at our Secondary Book Week celebrations, bringing students and staff together through a variety of activities designed to celebrate the power of books and stories.
Students enjoyed Book Quizzes and Kahoot challenges, Book Picnics, creative book-inspired activities, Human Library sessions, Battle of the Speakers, and our much-anticipated Year 12 Book Week Costume Parade. Our Year 9 students also began creating their own adaptations of Act 3 of Julius Caesar for the Secondary Exhibition.
A particularly meaningful part of the week was our Human Library, where members of our school community became our “Human Books”, generously sharing their personal journeys and life experiences with students. These sessions reminded us that some of the most powerful stories are not only found on the pages of books, but also in the lives and experiences of the people around us.
Our Year 12 students certainly embraced the spirit of Book Week with their Costume Parade, bringing beloved literary characters to life with plenty of creativity and enthusiasm. However, our students weren’t the only ones having fun!
On Friday, our staff joined in with a Book Week Costume Dress-Up, followed by an afternoon of laughter and friendly competition. Staff put their literary knowledge and quick thinking to the test through tongue twisters, a spelling bee, riddles, charades, Finish the Story and Guess the Book Cover. There were plenty of laughs, some impressive performances and wonderful costumes.
A heartfelt thank you to our English Department, staff, leadership team, guest speakers and student volunteers who contributed their time, ideas and enthusiasm to making the week such a success.
Book Week reminded us that stories can educate, inspire, entertain and connect us. Whether they are found in a novel, performed on a stage, shared through a speech or told through someone’s lived experience, every story has the potential to teach us something.

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic achievement by our Primary students in this year’s Oz Rocks competition “Times Tables Rock Stars” national times tables battle, held online from 1 to 3 September.
Competing against schools from all over Australia, Al Siraat finished an incredible 3rd place out of 50 schools across Victoria!
Oz Rocks challenges students to answer as many multiplication and division questions as they can, with classes ranked on the average number of correct answers per student. With a limit of just 30 minutes of play per student each day, every single answer counted, and our students rose to the challenge with impressive speed, accuracy and enthusiasm.
A special congratulations to our three highest-scoring classes:
- 1st Place: Hifz A
- 2nd Place: 6G3
- 3rd Place: Hifz A
This result reflects not only the hard work our students have put into mastering their times tables, but also the wonderful support of our teachers and families who cheered them on throughout the competition. Fluency in times tables builds the foundation for so much of the mathematics our students will encounter in the years ahead, and it’s wonderful to see them developing these skills with such excitement.
Well done to every student who took part, and we cannot wait to participate again next year!
Al Siraat was filled with energy, sisterhood and inspiration last Friday as almost 100 girls came together for our Girls Youth Halaqa program.
The evening featured a fantastic mix of faith, sport and personal development, with Archery Ascension hosting an exciting Archery Tag session. Students also enjoyed a Taekwondo clinic led by former Al Siraat student, Gold Medalist and Sensei Sufiya Wilson, as well as volleyball and other sporting activities.
The program also featured an inspiring line-up of special guest speakers, including Sufiya Wilson, Aalimah-in-training Anam Rashid, and renowned spoken word poet Zaynab Farah, who each shared valuable messages of faith, resilience, tawakkul and empowerment.
The evening wrapped up with a delicious supper of pizzas and donuts, giving students the opportunity to relax, socialise and connect with one another.
A special thank you to our Student Support & Development (SSD) Team for supporting the program and helping create such a welcoming and engaging evening for our girls.
We sincerely thank the Victorian Government for supporting the Youth Halaqa programs through Youth Fest Victoria, helping make meaningful youth programs like this possible for our students and wider community.

We are always looking for new stallholders to join our growing market community. Applications are open for vendors offering crafts, handmade goods, food and beverages, art and design, plants, and more.
Stall fees for regular Harvest Home Markets:
- $50 for 3x3m market stall with 1 table and 2 chairs (no marquee will be provided, can BYO) (food & non-food)
- $80 for food trucks and food vans
- Additional $20 to hire a school marquee (3x3m, subject to availability)
- Additional $20 for use of power (generators will not be allowed on site).

Earlier this week, our VCE Unit 1 & 2 Biology students took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Healesville Sanctuary.
Students explored several of Healesville Sanctuary’s conservation efforts, including captive breeding programs for critically endangered species such as the Helmeted Honeyeater and Southern Corroboree Frog, with animals bred and, where appropriate, reintroduced into the wild to help strengthen their populations.
They also collected real field research data on animal behaviour, which they later analysed in connection with their Units 1 and 2 Biology curriculum.
It was a great opportunity for students to see how concepts they have learned in class can be applied in the real-world world, giving them a glimpse of what it is like to be real scientists.
Spring is a particularly busy and special season at our ASC Mini Farm, with plenty of new arrivals keeping our farm animals and their carers busy!

Our goats and sheep are currently nursing their young, and so far we have welcomed eight adorable kids (the official name for baby goats) and five spring lambs, with a few more little ones expected in the coming weeks. It has been lovely to watch the youngsters grow, become more active and explore their surroundings alongside their mothers.
The farm is also becoming a busy home for our local wildlife. Many birds are currently nesting in the nearby trees, while our resident brushtail and ringtail possums can be spotted after dark, with their tiny joeys hitching a ride on their mothers’ backs.
For our students, the Mini Farm offers a wonderful opportunity to observe these seasonal changes up close and develop a deeper appreciation for the animals and wildlife that share our College grounds. Whether they are watching a lamb take its first steps, spotting a baby goat exploring the enclosure or noticing birds busy building their nests, there is always something new to discover.
Spring has certainly brought plenty of new life to the Al Siraat Mini Farm, and we look forward to watching our youngest residents grow and thrive, inShaAllah.

Al Siraat is pleased to invite parents to register their Expression of Interest (EOI) for Peaceful Hearts for Parents, a four-week parenting program designed to support parents in developing greater inner calm, confidence and connection in their parenting journey.
The sessions will explore practical and faith-centred approaches to parenting, including understanding our emotional responses, managing stress, building stronger connections with our children, setting healthy boundaries, and approaching parenting with compassion, patience and trust in Allah.

Time: 9:30am – 12:30pm
Venue: Al Siraat College – Assembly Hall
Cost: $50 total for all four sessions.

We would like to advise our community that AusNet will be undertaking power cable upgrade works on Epping Road and Harvest Home Road during the upcoming school holiday period and continuing into the commencement of Term 4.
Please take note of the following important information:
