Our Year 5 boys recently had the opportunity, once again, to step into the role of coaches, sharing their cricket skills with our Foundation students during a PE class.
The Year 5 boys took on their new roles with enthusiasm, setting up activities, demonstrating skills, encouraging their younger peers and celebrating their efforts with plenty of high fives. Meanwhile, our Foundation students eagerly soaked it all up, embracing the opportunity to learn and enjoy this wonderful game.
It was lovely to see our older students encouraging and supporting our youngest learners, creating a positive sense of connection and community across the College.
A big well done to our Year 5 coaches and Foundation students, and thank you to Ms Debbie for guiding the session.
Our first Harvest Home Market was held on last Saturday, 3 October at Al Siraat, and it was a wonderful start to our new monthly community markets!
Despite the rainy weather, the rain held off throughout the market from 10am to 2pm, allowing our community to enjoy the day. As a precaution, all stalls were set up under the basketball court, keeping our stallholders and visitors comfortable and dry.
We were delighted to see a great turnout and a wonderful variety of stalls, with handmade products, food, gifts and other unique offerings on display.
A big Jazakum Allahu Khairan to all our stallholders, families and community members who supported our first market. We look forward to growing this initiative and welcoming even more of our community in the coming months.
Our next Harvest Home Market will be on Saturday, 7 November from 10am – 2pm.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Building bridges between people of different faiths and backgrounds is an important part of Al Siraat College’s connection with the wider community.
Last Saturday, 3 October, was a wonderful example of this in action: Al Siraat staff member Mr Osama represented the College as the Muslim faith representative at the annual City of Whittlesea Blessing of the Fleet and Emergency Expo, while Ms Tanja participated as the Muslim panellist at the Faith Ecology Network Conference “Many Faiths, One Planet: Together, Caring for Our Common Home” in the CBD, exploring how different faith traditions inspire ecological consciousness, environmental responsibility and a deeper connection with the natural world.
Our Year 9 Interfaith Ambassadors also continue their interfaith journey through regular exchanges with their peers from St Monica’s College, under the guidance of Ms Noori and Sheikh Waseem. These exchanges provide valuable opportunities for students to build friendships and deepen their understanding of different faith and cultural perspectives.
Meanwhile, the Whittlesea Interfaith Network (WIN) is preparing to receive the baton and host the 2027 Victorian Interfaith Festival in the City of Whittlesea.
This year’s Victorian Interfaith Festival will be held on Sunday, 15 November, from 12.00 pm to 4.30 pm at St Kilda Town Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend this FREE public event and enjoy an afternoon of faith, culture, performances, food, art and community connection, while celebrating Victoria’s diverse faith communities.
If you are interested in attending, please register for free here.
