Rahat started her career as a Civil Engineer. Realising the importance of education in the lives of children, she completed a degree in Teaching and embarked on a teaching career. She is dedicated to ensuring that each child can realise their potential and develop both spiritually and academically.
As co-founder and founding Principal of Al Siraat College from 2009-2017, Rahat has been passionately involved in the set up of this College right from the grassroots. With a passion for Islamic education, she teamed up with her husband to establish the first Islamic school in the City of Whittlesea.
Prior to her involvement in Al Siraat College, Rahat has had a number of years of experience in other local Islamic schools, public schools, after hours madrassas, and has also been involved in Home Schooling whilst searching for the best way of educating her own children. Being in positions of teaching, leadership, and community service for the last 15 years has helped shape her motivation for contributing to the education of the Muslim community.
Now as Director Student Learning and Achievement, she is determined to lead the way in helping the Al Siraat Community flourish as positive Muslims and citizens of Australia.

Esra joined Al Siraat College in 2014 as Head of Teaching and Learning. Prior to this, she has taught in a number of Victorian independent and state schools for over 20 years gaining extensive teaching and leadership experience. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree and Diploma of Education from La Trobe University and a Master of Education and a Postgraduate Certificate from Melbourne University. She has also completed a number of short courses including Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, Foundation Level Cognitive Coaching, Evidence Based Observations and is currently pursuing the online Islamic Teacher Education Program developed by RAZI Education.
Her main focus is to build and sustain consistent, meaningful professional collaboration and insist teachers to work together to plan and implement effective teaching strategies and programs. This mainly involves incorporating EBOs and cognitive coaching to achieve the best possible outcome for teaching and learning.
Esra strongly believes that good teachers identify student strengths and interests and use them as a platform for increased learning. She also believes in student-centred and holistic teaching methods that foster higher-order thinking and constructivism. Her passion for teaching and learning is evident in the way she works within the school and the community by ensuring that students and staff are fully supported and receive the highest standard of education and training. She looks forward to working many more years at Al Siraat College and hopes to see through the development of staff and student endeavours.

Mufti Aasim Rashid grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and started his formal education in the Islamic sciences at Jaamiah al-Uloom al-Islamiyyah Ajax, Ontario in 1992. After completing five years of intensive studies, he travelled to Dabhel, Gujarat India for higher studies in 1996, then went to complete his ʿālim course in Dewsbury, England and graduated with distinctive honours in 1999. Upon graduation he began his career as an educator, teaching a wide range of Islamic and academic subjects. It was during this period of teaching that he commenced his specialization (takhaṣṣuṣ) in al-fiqh al-islamī and iftāʾ under his professors at Ajax. This specialization continued even after he left Ajax to serve other Muslim communities in Canada.
After several years of serving as an imam, educator and public speaker he travelled to Karachi, Pakistan to complete this specialization at the renowned Islamic University at Binnori Town. During his tenure in Karachi he also completed extensive studies and practical instruction in Islamic banking and finance. These studies were conducted in consultation with Mufti Taqi Usmani and under experts appointed by him.
Aside from his certification in Islamic knowledge (ʿālimiyyah), he also holds a degree in iftāʾand a Masters’ degree in Islamic studies. He has committed the Qurʾān to memory and has been leading tarāwīḥ prayers for many years.
Mufti Aasim Rashid has been graced with ijāzah in all major books of hadith, fiqh and tafsīrfrom numerous scholars, including Mufti Taqi Usmani, Maulana Safaraz Khan Safdar, Mufti Abdul Salam Chatgami, Dr. Abdul Haleem Nomani, Dr. Taqiuddin Nadwi and his spiritual mentor and shaykh Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Motala.
He has also acquired formal education in alternative medicine, obtaining diplomas in Homeopathy and Naturopathy. He also holds certifications in various other disciplines of natural medicine.
TEACHING AND OTHER ENGAGEMENTS
Upon graduating Mufti Aasim Rashid was appointed as a teacher at Jaamiah Ajax, where he served for several years. He taught major books of fiqh, tafsīr and hadith, including Sunan Abū Dāwūd, Sunan Nasāʾī, Sunan Ibn Mājah, and al-Ṭaḥāwī . He has also taught academic subjects such as English and Canadian Law at the senior high school level. From the year 2003 to 2008, he was the Imam at a major Islamic center in Montreal, Quebec, where he laid the foundation for his dārul ʿulūm, which is now known as the Al-Iḥsān Institute of Higher Islamic Education. He continued to teach at Jaamiah Ajax as a visiting professor of hadith, a position he maintains to date.
Mufti Aasim held the positions of Director of Religion and Islamic Education for the B.C. Muslim Association, a large Islamic organization operating a wide network of mosques and schools in Canada, from 2010 to 2015.
Prior to joining Al Siraat College as Director of Islamic Ecucation, he has beenis teaching and managing at the Al-Ihsan Educational Foundation, in Surrey, B.C. in Canada, which he founded in Montreal in 2003. To date, four batches qualified scholars have graduated.
He conducts weekly lectures on hadith and tafsīr, as well as workshops and seminars on many important issues. He is a well-known speaker at Islamic events, as well as at colleges, universities and interfaith programs.
Mufti Aasim has compiled several works in Arabic, English and Urdu. He has authored a series of textbooks for learning Arabic Grammar in English, as well as numerous books on important topics such as the sunnah of the beard, Eid sacrifices, ʿAqīdah, Islamic family life, Uṣūl al fiqh, and others. He has compiled a collection of fatwās, legal rulings issued by him, and begun a research on a commentary of the book Sharḥ Maʿānī al-āthār of Imam Ṭaḥāwī –a major text in hadith and Ḥanafī fiqh. Mufti Aasim is also an editor and contributing writer for the Integrated Encyclopedia of the Quran.

Shahidah was a key staff member of Al Siraat College when it was first established in 2009. With her passion and enthusiasm, she hoped to be an effective and inspirational leader for Al Siraat College, a school that has the potential for providing opportunities for high academic achievement and personal growth for all of its student population.
Shahidah has accomplished 16 years of teaching and administrative experiences in a variety of school settings in Singapore and Australia. These opportunities have enabled her to develop strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and leadership skills that have allowed her to cultivate a supportive learning environment at Al Siraat.
In a management role in Singapore as the Education Director of Al Khair Education Centre, Shahidah was involved in setting up the centre, and contributed to the successful planning, and management of curriculum program for 600 students aged 3-6 years. This experience also involved facilitating and supervising 35 staff to create a flourishing learning and working environment. From 2006 - 2008 she taught at Australian International Academy, which was her first introduction to the International Baccalaureate program and inspired her to further her studies in teaching.
Shahidah graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Primary Teaching. In 2013 she completed a Master of Education (International Baccalaureate), and is fully trained through the Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment Program in developing cognitive strategies in children.

Hatice Mohamed is the Head of Senior Years and the VCE Co-ordinator at Al Siraat College. She has been happily working at the College since 2015.
She was born and raised in Turkey and attained a Bachelor of Science Education- Mathematics Education Degree in the best technical university of the country. Mathematics was always her passion and she was ranked amongst the top 100 students in the National University Entrance Exam.
She started teaching in 1996 in Turkey and worked in various prestigious private schools. In 2005, she decided to continue her teaching career in Australia and started working in an independent school in Melbourne. In this school, as well as teaching VCE Mathematics for 10 years, she had various other roles such as VCE Co-ordinator, Year Level Co-ordinator, Head of the Mathematics Department, SRC Co-ordinator and Interfaith Dialogue Coordinator. She has also been working for the VCAA as Further Mathematics Exam 2 Assessor since 2006. She also wrote Insight Publication Further Mathematics Trial Exams from 2010 to 2012 (6 exam papers in total). Writing trial exams and assessing VCE exams have broadened her assessment skills enormously. She had many students receiving study scores of 40 and above, even 50 (perfect score) in VCE Mathematics.
Hatice’s ultimate goal as an educator is to provide the best possible opportunities for her students proudly achieving their personal best in a challenging, tolerant and supportive environment, a trusted space where students can be themselves, love learning and aspire to academic excellence.

Vis Naidu is the Head of Middle Years at the Al Siraat College in Epping, Victoria. He was born and educated in South Africa with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Diploma in Teaching and an Honours Degree in Psychology.
He started his teaching in 1986 and was actively involved in the transformation of the political landscape in South Africa in1994. After teaching for 18 years in South Africa, he decided it was time for a change and moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2004.
Vis has also taught in London, gaining valuable knowledge and experience as a secondary teacher (GCSE) of English. In Australia, he took up a position at a Catholic College in Kilmore, Victoria, teaching VCE Psychology and English. He joined Al Siraat at the beginning of 2012 with the aim of helping to build the College into a reputable institute of learning.

Ms Evla is very excited about beginning her new role as Head of Junior Years at Al Siraat College. She is encouraged by the enthusiasm and energy among the wonderful team of staff at the College and is looking forward to meeting all the students and families during the year.
Over the past 15 years, Ms Evla has had the pleasure of experiencing primary, secondary and post-secondary school contexts. Prior to commencing Al Siraat, she was part of an education team at the Commission for Children and Young People. Before that, she was the Primary Deputy Principal at Sirius College.
She feels passionate about education and school leadership because it means she is always learning herself. After all, we are all born to learn. She feels blessed to be part of the Al Siraat community.
Some of Ms Evla's goals this year are to ensure that:

Shahzad has over 25 years of ICT experience encompassing strategic and operational roles with broad management, technical, and people skills.
Prior to joining Al Siraat College in October 2015, he was head of IT at Kangan Institute of TAFE for over 6 years. He has substantial experience in the education and government sector delivering innovative solutions for organisations like Kangan, VCAA, Department of Justice, Consumer Affairs Victoria, Victorian Election Commission.
Shahzad has significant experience in developing and running a full IT Service Management / Service Delivery based on ITIL - SLA based Service Catalog and self-service to ensure the smooth running of ICT systems and provide IT services that improve the efficiency and performance of an organisation.
Shahzad has a passion for IT Strategies, Enterprise Architecture, Application Integrations, Business Process modelling and process optimisation and has wide ranging experience in delivering IT Strategic Plans fully aligned and traceable to organisation's vision, strategic plan, and business priorities.
