    Mr Mohammed Azim is currently the Head of English at Al Siraat College. He is also the Instructional Coach for teachers in secondary school. Prior to joining Al Siraat College, Mr Mohammed Azim was an English Lecturer/Curriculum Developer at Monash University's English Language Centre. He has taught VCE English, Language, EAL & Literature for over 14 years as well. He has been in the teaching profession for the past 30 years and has worked in various capacities like Head of English & Humanities, Counsellor, Senior Coordinator, Head of Teaching & Learning, Curriculum Developer, Educational Leadership and Administration Adviser, Discipline Coordinator and PD Trainer in primary, secondary and tertiary educational sectors. He is also an exam assessor for external exams through VCAA – Assessment Administration Unit.

    Mr Mohammed Azim was honoured by the Teaching Australia – Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership for National Excellence in Teacher Leadership Award in 2009. In 2011, Mr Mohammed Azim was the first Muslim teacher ever to win the National Excellence in Teaching Awards supported by the Australian Scholarship Group. He was declared as one of the teachers in the Top 10 teachers of Australia in 2011. The awards did not end here as Mohammed Azim was recognised for his outstanding service and contribution in education once again by being named in the 2017 HOT LIST OF TOP 50 AUSTRALIAN EDUCATORS by the prestigious The Educator magazine.

    Mr Mohammed Azim has a passion for action research in the areas of teacher quality, discipline, educational administration and leadership, teaching and learning pedagogies, assessment for success and innovative ways of teaching English. Currently, he teaches English at Year 9, 11 & 12 levels. Apart from teaching, he is actively involved in many community initiatives and activities that deals with families and youths.

    Mr Mohammed Azim is an advocate of the motto that ‘We rise by lifting others’. This is his passion and mission at Al Siraat College.

    Naga is a currently Head of Science at Al Siraat College. Having over 25 years of experience, teaching and science are her true passions. Over her long tenured career, Naga has taught in 3 different countries and at different age levels. She has Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya, a Master of Science in Microbiology from Victoria University and a graduate diploma in Secondary Education majoring in science from University of Canberra.

    Naga joined the College in 2017 after moving down from Canberra to be closer to her family. Prior to this, she taught at Daramalan College, located in the heart of the nation's capital, which has over 1400 students. Here she worked for 15 years teaching Biology and Chemistry and became deeply embedded within the school. Due to this, Naga had full control of the Biology curriculum taught at the college, pertaining to year 7 to 12. Furthermore, she also took on the role of assistant science coordinator at the college.

    Naga specialises and enjoys, curriculum building, with her efforts being recognised by the Board of Senior Secondary School [BSSS], where she was invited to take part in developing the national curriculum for year 11 and 12 biology in the A.C.T. Furthermore, Naga loves putting in the extra work to help out students, answering and assisting her students in her spare time during lunch. She is happy to go the extra mile when a student is passionate. Her passion for teaching, however, doesn’t stop at secondary students. Naga also enjoys mentoring new graduate teachers whenever she gets the chance.

    In her spare time, she also loves to garden, go on walks and enjoys time with the family.

    Naga is looking forward to teaching and inspiring the students at Al Siraat College, and is looking forward to shaping the future of the school using her wealth of experience and true passion for both science and teaching.

    Esra joined Al Siraat College in 2014 as Head of Teaching and Learning. Prior to this, she has taught in a number of Victorian independent and state schools for over 20 years gaining extensive teaching and leadership experience. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree and Diploma of Education from La Trobe University and a Master of Education and a Postgraduate Certificate from Melbourne University. She has also completed a number of short courses including Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety, Foundation Level Cognitive Coaching, Evidence Based Observations and is currently pursuing the online Islamic Teacher Education Program developed by RAZI Education.

    Her main focus is to build and sustain consistent, meaningful professional collaboration and insist teachers to work together to plan and implement effective teaching strategies and programs. This mainly involves incorporating EBOs and cognitive coaching to achieve the best possible outcome for teaching and learning.

    Esra strongly believes that good teachers identify student strengths and interests and use them as a platform for increased learning. She also believes in student-centred and holistic teaching methods that foster higher-order thinking and constructivism. Her passion for teaching and learning is evident in the way she works within the school and the community by ensuring that students and staff are fully supported and receive the highest standard of education and training. She looks forward to working many more years at Al Siraat College and hopes to see through the development of staff and student endeavours.

  • Suffian Amin

    Suffian Amin is the Head of Art at Al Siraat College. He began his teaching career in Singapore and taught GCSE Design & Technology (D&T). Prior to his appointment at Al Siraat College, Suffian held the position of Year Head and Subject Head at the school.

    Suffian is very passionate on design education and its role in promoting critical and creative thinking in students. He was actively involved in curriculum planning and professional development of D&T educators with Ministry of Education and Nanyang Technological University (National Institute of Education) in Singapore. In 2014, Suffian wrote a chapter, “The Nature of Intuition in Design” in a book “Disciplinary Intuitions and the Design of Learning Environment (Lim, 2014)”. In addition, he co-wrote a paper titled ‘Experiential Design – insights into its focus’ in 2011.

    Suffian moved to Melbourne in 2014 in pursuit of a new challenge. He believes that education is a pivotal enabler for social mobility and that every child can learn. He is very happy to be part of the Al Siraat community and looks forward to nurturing and moulding the bright and young minds in our school.

    Suffian graduated with Master of Education specialising in Curriculum and Teaching, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).

    Daniel Saleh studied Physical Education/ Health at RMIT for 5 years. His interests are being physically active, eating nutritious foods, exploring new sites and learning new things.

    Daniel joined Al Siraat Collage in 2012 and has established our Physical Education department. He organised sports days, fundraisers, walk/ride to school days, inviting famous sporting players to Al Siraat and getting involved in interschool sports. He has also started an after school soccer program called "One Ummah, Soccer Academy of Excellence".

    He is enthusiastic, energetic, competitive, and a caring and respectful teacher. Daniel promotes appreciation of school among students and to take Physical Education as a privilege of learning in a fun and practical way. The goals, which he strives towards, are to pass on his knowledge to future generations so they can use and apply what they have learnt in school and the future.

    When Daniel was at High School, his Physical Education teacher was very highly respected by all students, parents and teachers, and was a great role model, which influenced him to become a Physical Education teacher himself. Creating a safe and positive environment for students to enjoy school and encourage them to always try their best at anything they do is a goal that he will try to accomplish to the best of his ability.
