    Mrs Hadia Shoaib has recently joined Al Siraat College in 2015 after completing her degree from The University of Melbourne.

    Working as a Secondary School Teacher she has accumulated a broad range of teaching experience in English across all year levels. Having a sound knowledge of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) she consciously modifies her pedagogies to suit the needs of the learner. She is highly confident and passionate to teach students who come from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

    Hadia is an ardent supporter of ‘Student Wellbeing’ and actively employs strategies that support social and emotional learning in students to ensure success at all levels. She strongly believes that investing in relationships (students, parents & teachers) is imperative to improving school climate and learning outcomes.

    Joseph "Joe" Vella is the Timetabler at the College. He also looks after certain aspects of SEQTA, our school intranet solution.

    His teaching role this year is Mathematics in the junior secondary area. He has taught Science and Information Technology. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Monash University majoring in Biochemistry and Immunology. He completed a Graduate Diploma of Education from Australian Catholic University majoring in Science and Religious Education. Joe also has a Graduate Diploma of Business Computing from Victoria University. He has had extensive teaching experience in the junior secondary level of education.

    Joe has always held postilions of responsibility. He was a subject coordinator of Mathematics and Information Technology. He has also overseen computer networks, and administered reporting systems. He has seen the growth of the Information Technology area from small clusters of computers to computers being used by all students. The main sector he has worked in has been in Catholic Education.

    Al Siraat is the first Islamic school Joe has worked at. He thoroughly enjoys teaching the students at Al Siraat College and thrives on working in a growing school. He has found the staff and parents extremely approachable and hopes to continue to use his expertise to help the school further develop and grow.

    Mr Mohammed Azim is currently the Head of English at Al Siraat College. He is also the Instructional Coach for teachers in secondary school. Prior to joining Al Siraat College, Mr Mohammed Azim was an English Lecturer/Curriculum Developer at Monash University's English Language Centre. He has taught VCE English, Language, EAL & Literature for over 14 years as well. He has been in the teaching profession for the past 30 years and has worked in various capacities like Head of English & Humanities, Counsellor, Senior Coordinator, Head of Teaching & Learning, Curriculum Developer, Educational Leadership and Administration Adviser, Discipline Coordinator and PD Trainer in primary, secondary and tertiary educational sectors. He is also an exam assessor for external exams through VCAA – Assessment Administration Unit.

    Mr Mohammed Azim was honoured by the Teaching Australia – Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership for National Excellence in Teacher Leadership Award in 2009. In 2011, Mr Mohammed Azim was the first Muslim teacher ever to win the National Excellence in Teaching Awards supported by the Australian Scholarship Group. He was declared as one of the teachers in the Top 10 teachers of Australia in 2011. The awards did not end here as Mohammed Azim was recognised for his outstanding service and contribution in education once again by being named in the 2017 HOT LIST OF TOP 50 AUSTRALIAN EDUCATORS by the prestigious The Educator magazine.

    Mr Mohammed Azim has a passion for action research in the areas of teacher quality, discipline, educational administration and leadership, teaching and learning pedagogies, assessment for success and innovative ways of teaching English. Currently, he teaches English at Year 9, 11 & 12 levels. Apart from teaching, he is actively involved in many community initiatives and activities that deals with families and youths.

    Mr Mohammed Azim is an advocate of the motto that ‘We rise by lifting others’. This is his passion and mission at Al Siraat College.

    Commencing her role as the Senior Year’s Co-ordinator and Careers Adviser at Al Siraat College, Ms Aseel is driven and passionate about mentoring and guiding students to realise and achieve their potential. She strives to create a nurturing and caring environment for all students and is a strong advocate of applying restorative practices in building positive student relationships.

    Ms Aseel’s role also includes guiding students in making an informed decision about future pathways and careers.

    Hatice Mohamed is the Head of Senior Years and the VCE Co-ordinator at Al Siraat College. She has been happily working at the College since 2015.

    She was born and raised in Turkey and attained a Bachelor of Science Education- Mathematics Education Degree in the best technical university of the country. Mathematics was always her passion and she was ranked amongst the top 100 students in the National University Entrance Exam. She started teaching in 1996 in Turkey and worked in various prestigious private schools. In 2005, she decided to continue her teaching career in Australia and started working in an independent school in Melbourne. In this school, as well as teaching VCE Mathematics for 10 years, she had various other roles such as VCE Co-ordinator, Year Level Co-ordinator, Head of the Mathematics Department, SRC Co-ordinator and Interfaith Dialogue Coordinator. She has also been working for the VCAA as Further Mathematics Exam 2 Assessor since 2006. She also wrote Insight Publication Further Mathematics Trial Exams from 2010 to 2012 (6 exam papers in total). Writing trial exams and assessing VCE exams have broadened her assessment skills enormously. She had many students receiving study scores of 40 and above, even 50 (perfect score) in VCE Mathematics.

    Hatice’s ultimate goal as an educator is to provide the best possible opportunities for her students proudly achieving their personal best in a challenging, tolerant and supportive environment, a trusted space where students can be themselves, love learning and aspire to academic excellence.
