Reminder: SRC Recycling Batteries Project

Student Representative Council have partnered with Office Works to save domestic single use or rechargeable batteries from going into landfills. Batteries should never be put in the recycling bin or in your waste bin.

Rechargeable batteries and lithium-ion batteries are hazardous and could produce sparks that may start a fire in the trucks or recycling facility. This includes batteries in laptops, mobile phones, power tools and cameras. We should try to minimise battery usage by connecting appliances to the mains power where possible. Buying rechargeable batteries is an important way to reduce battery waste. It will save money and reducing pollution from discarded batteries.

All batteries below are recyclable:

  • AA
  • AAA
  • C
  • D
  • 9V
  • Laptop batteries or computer batteries
  • Mobile phone batteries

The following items below cannot be accepted for recycling at this time are:

  • Industrial batteries
  • Car batteries

We request students, staff and parents to save the domestic single use or rechargeable batteries from going into bin by simply collecting them and dropping them off at the college drop off locations. The drop off locations are located in Primary, Secondary and Main office.

The project is open for the remainder of 2021.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact SRC Coordinator Ms Noori, College Captains Humza Ghouse or Laila Rashid, or Environmental Captain Junayd Ayoubi.
