Last week, our school community proudly celebrated the Year 12 Graduation, marking the end of an important chapter for our senior students and the beginning of exciting new journeys ahead.
Surrounded by family, friends, and staff, the graduates were recognised for their achievements, resilience, and dedication throughout their schooling years.
The ceremony featured heartfelt speeches and reflections on the many memorable moments that have shaped this cohort. College Principal Mr Fazeel Arain congratulated the students on their hard work and encouraged them to embrace the future with confidence and curiosity.
We extend our warmest congratulations to the Class of 2025. We wish each graduate every success as they step forward into new adventures, whether that be further study, employment, or other exciting pathways. Your school community is incredibly proud of you.
Our annual Year Five Darebin Creek bike ride was a resounding success once again, with students completing the full 23 kilometres in great spirits.
If proof of their enthusiasm was needed, one boy summed it up perfectly when he said to a classmate afterwards: “I just want to ride my bike now…” – even after spending the entire morning in the saddle!
The boys embraced the warm weather, the camaraderie of group cycling and the etiquette that comes with sharing Melbourne’s northern bike paths. A stop at the halal Hungry Jack’s was, of course, a much-anticipated highlight.
The return journey proved more challenging, with a few more uphill stretches than the way out. Still, every student rose to the occasion, stayed hydrated and pushed through to the finish. Their collective sigh of relief and achievement upon returning to the classroom said it all.
This much-loved tradition continues to grow each year, offering students a memorable blend of adventure, resilience and fun. Long may it continue!

Our Year 4 students recently brought figurative language to life during Idiom Accessory Day, transforming the classroom into a vibrant celebration of imagination and learning.
Students learnt that an idiom is a common expression whose meaning cannot be understood from the individual words alone. For example, raining cats and dogs simply means heavy rain, while two peas in a pod describes people who are very similar.
Bursting with creativity, students arrived dressed as everything from two peas in a pod to raining cats and dogs, social butterfly, on cloud 9 and even break a leg, each costume very cleverly designed. They were truly a sight for sore eyes!
It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm as they explored the meanings behind these expressions in such a hands on, joyful way. Not only did the day spark plenty of laughter, it also strengthened their understanding of idioms through play, curiosity, and collaboration.
A fantastic learning experience for all involved!

We are absolutely delighted to share the wonderful news that Angelo De Vincentis, our friendly, patient and ever-reliable crossing supervisor on Harvest Home Road (at the crossing closest to A Building), has been awarded the School Crossing Supervisor of the Year Award for 2025, an honour organised by the City of Whittlesea

We are very proud of our Soundwavezz performers and look forward to seeing them represent Al Siraat on stage. We hope to see many of our families there!
Six of our Senior students proudly represented Al Siraat at the National Council of Women of Victoria’s “My Vote, My Voice” forum on Friday, 22 August 2025.
Held inside the historic Legislative Council Chamber at the Parliament of Victoria, the event invited students to reflect on this year’s theme, “What is special about the Australian Democracy?”
Our student delegates were:
• Salim Abdulrahman (Year 11)
• Amaar Hamida (Year 12)
• Elyas Mabrok (Year 12)
• Qirrat Noor Yousuf (Year 11)
• Afra Shehzad (Year 12)
• Halimah Sheikh (Year 11)
Throughout the morning, students from across Victoria shared thoughtful perspectives on democratic freedoms, responsibilities and the importance of youth participation. Representing Al Siraat on the Chamber floor, 2025 College Captain Amaar Hamida and Senior SRC member Afra Shehzad delivered confident and insightful speeches, highlighting the role young Australians play in safeguarding fairness, freedom and civic engagement.
The forum also featured keynote speaker Lucy Skelton, Founder and CEO of FORE Australia, whose message encouraged young leaders to stay engaged, informed and active in shaping their communities.
The program concluded with refreshments in Queen’s Hall, offering a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with peers, educators and parliamentary staff.
We are extremely proud of our students for their maturity and enthusiasm in such a distinguished setting. Their participation reflects Al Siraat’s commitment to nurturing leadership, integrity and active citizenship.
Our sincere thanks to the National Council of Women of Victoria for hosting this enriching annual event and for empowering young voices within our democracy.

With warmer summer days here now, we kindly ask our Al Siraat families to spare a moment for our native wildlife and pets. The high temperatures can be extremely challenging for birds, mammals, insects and even our own furry companions. If you are feeling the heat, so is the wildlife around you.
One of the simplest and most effective ways to help is by leaving shallow bowls of fresh water outside.
Tips to keep wildlife safe and hydrated:
- Use only shallow bowls, so small animals do not drown
- Add sticks, stones or a branch that reaches the edge of the bowl. This gives smaller creatures and insects a way out if they fall in
- Avoid metal bowls, as these can heat up quickly and burn delicate feet or paws
- Always place bowls in the shade and check them regularly to top up the water and ensure they remain cool.
- Hose down trees and shrubs in the morning and evening or run a sprinkler for a short time during the day. This creates cool refuge spaces for wildlife.
If you see an animal in distress
Please contact local The Wildlife Rescuers Inc – 0417 506 941 or Wildlife Victoria on 8400 7300 immediately. Early intervention can save lives.
Thank you for caring for our wildlife and for helping to make a difference during these hot summer days. Providing water and shelter for Allah’s creatures is an act of sadaqah, and every small effort counts. May Allah reward you for your kindness and compassion towards His creations.
