We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that Al Siraat College has won $8,000 in the “Shop to the Top” Challenge, earning the highest total points of all participating schools!

This fantastic achievement was made possible thanks to the leadership of our amazing PFC team and the support of our incredible parents, staff, and families who participated with enthusiasm and spirit.

The winners were announced at a lively community event hosted by the Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA Roads) on December 10th at Epping North Plaza in Lyndarum. Our very own Soundwavezz drummers, led by Mr. Hafidi, added to the excitement with a brilliant live performance that wowed the crowd.

We are delighted to announce that the prize money will go towards new playground equipment for our primary students, set to be installed in the year ahead—creating even more fun and active learning opportunities for our young learners.

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this success. Your support makes a real difference in the life of our college community!

This week, our College community came together to celebrate a major milestone for our Year 6 cohort. The 2025 Year 6 Awards Ceremony brought students, staff, and families together in a warm and joyful afternoon where students were recognised for their hard work, leadership, personal growth, and Akhlaaq and Adab.

A special highlight was our event sponsor Bombay Real Estate, Epping, whose generous support made this milestone even more memorable. Their contribution of five $100 vouchers, presented by Mr Denis Aldemir, allowed us to honour five students who exemplified our College Values throughout the year. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Bombay Real Estate for their ongoing commitment to our school community.

The ceremony included Quran recitations, academic and specialist awards, Homegroup recognitions, the completion of 40 Rabbana duas, and inspiring speeches from our Primary Captains. Performances by the Songbirds and Soundwavezz Drummers added beautiful energy to the event.

A proud moment for all was the presentation of Completion Certificates, marking the end of their Primary School years. The program concluded with a heartfelt speech and dua from our College Principal Mr Fazeel Arain.

In the afternoon, students returned for a joyful Graduation Dinner, celebrating the friendships, memories, and achievements that have shaped their time at Al Siraat. It was a meaningful way to close their Primary School journey and look ahead to the exciting chapter of Secondary School.

We congratulate all our Year 6 graduates and award recipients. We are incredibly proud of them and wish them every success in the years ahead.

On the final day of Term 4, our Year 6 boys received a special graduation gift: the first of 120 Little Anglers Kits generously provided by Fishing Authority Victoria. Each kit includes a junior fishing rod, tackle box, basic gear and a safety guide to help students begin their fishing journey with confidence and care.

The Little Anglers initiative introduces children to recreational fishing while emphasising safe, responsible and environmentally aware practices. To support this, our Head of PE Mr Daniel Saleh demonstrated how to correctly set up and use the fishing rods, ensuring students know how to get started safely.

Representing Wildlife Victoria as one of their volunteers,  Ms Tanja delivered a short but highly important presentation on the environmental impacts of incorrect fishing practices. Students learned how discarded fishing gear harms local wildlife, including water birds, bats and marine life that can become entangled in fishing lines and hooks. Additionally, these items do not decompose quickly and remain in our waterways for years and pose long-term risks.

Ms Tanja reminded students that as Muslims, we are taught that humanity has been appointed as custodians of the earth, entrusted by Allah to protect and care for all creation. Linked with one of our College mottos “It starts with me”, this message reinforces the personal responsibility each student holds to clean up after fishing, dispose of gear properly and never leave lines or hooks behind.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fishing Authority Victoria Wildlife Victoria for supporting our students in learning to enjoy fishing in a safe, ethical and environmentally responsible way. Together, we aim to ensure that the joy of fishing always goes hand in hand with care for the environment.

We are hoping to run further competitions in the new year to keep our community informed and updated about the proposed Northern Incinerator in Wollert, while we continue to count on our community’s support in opposing it.

With warmer summer days here now, we kindly ask our Al Siraat families to spare a moment for our native wildlife and pets. The high temperatures can be extremely challenging for birds, mammals, insects and even our own furry companions. If you are feeling the heat, so is the wildlife around you.

One of the simplest and most effective ways to help is by leaving shallow bowls of fresh water outside.

Tips to keep wildlife safe and hydrated:

  • Use only shallow bowls, so small animals do not drown
  • Add sticks, stones or a branch that reaches the edge of the bowl. This gives smaller creatures and insects a way out if they fall in
  • Avoid metal bowls, as these can heat up quickly and burn delicate feet or paws
  • Always place bowls in the shade and check them regularly to top up the water and ensure they remain cool.
  • Hose down trees and shrubs in the morning and evening or run a sprinkler for a short time during the day. This creates cool refuge spaces for wildlife.

If you see an animal in distress

Please contact local The Wildlife Rescuers Inc – 0417 506 941 or Wildlife Victoria on 8400 7300 immediately. Early intervention can save lives.

Thank you for caring for our wildlife and for helping to make a difference during these hot summer days. Providing water and shelter for Allah’s creatures is an act of sadaqah, and every small effort counts. May Allah reward you for your kindness and compassion towards His creations.
