As part of their Islamic Studies program, our students recently embarked on a meaningful learning experience focused on one of the most important pillars of Islam: Salah, our daily prayer.
In the classroom, they explored both the outward actions and inner dimensions of prayer, learning how each position and recitation carries a special purpose and connection to Allah ﷻ. Under the guidance of Ms Saniya, our dedicated Primary Islamic Studies teacher, students practised the correct movements and words with care and reverence.
To bring this learning to life, students visited the ICMG Meadow Heights Mosque, where they could see, experience, and participate in prayer within a real mosque environment. This excursion gave them the opportunity to join a congregational Salah led by an imam, allowing them to feel the unity and tranquillity that comes with worshipping alongside others.
During the visit, they also learned about the different parts of the mosque, the etiquette of the prayer space, and the importance of cleanliness and respect within this sacred place.
The experience was both educational and deeply spiritual, inspiring our students to appreciate Salah not only as a ritual act, but as a daily reminder of faith, discipline, and connection to the wider Muslim community.

Our Year 3 students had a fantastic day at CERES, learning all about how we can move Towards Zero Waste! Through a range of fun, hands-on activities, students explored the importance of caring for our environment.
Our students made strong connections to the 6 R’s of recycling (Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Repair) and discovered how each action helps protect our planet.
They searched for worms and insects in the soil, learning how these small creatures play a big role in keeping our earth healthy. They also had the exciting opportunity to make their own recycled paper.
During our walk around CERES, we learnt about its inspiring history and saw firsthand how the centre manages waste and keeps its environment clean and sustainable.
It was a wonderful day full of learning, teamwork, and environmental action, inspiring our Year 3’s to think about how they can make a difference every day!

On behalf of the ASC Incinerator Action Group, we are excited to launch a Poster Competition for our Primary School students in Years 3 to 6 over the next two weeks!
Did you know that a company called Cleanaway wants to build a waste incinerator in Wollert – right near where many of us live, study, and play?
Incinerators burn rubbish to make energy, but they can also pollute the air, harm our native wildlife, and damage our soil and waterways. We believe Wollert deserves clean air, thriving nature, and healthy families – not smoke and pollution!
That’s why we’re taking a stand and saying:
💚 NO to the Incinerator
🌏 YES to Clean Air and a Greener Wollert!
POSTER COMPETITION: “My Clean & Green Wollert”
Create a CANVA poster showing your vision for a bright, healthy future for Wollert — with clean skies, happy families, and thriving nature.
We choose clean air, healthy living, and a bright future!
Make your poster at home with parent supervision.

From 10 December 2025, new laws will come into effect across Australia. Under these laws, most social media platforms will no longer be permitted to let Australians under 16 create or maintain an account.
This change aims to protect young people from online risks such as excessive screen time and exposure to harmful content that can affect their mental, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
As parents and carers, this is an important moment to pause and reflect on how we can prepare our children for a healthy relationship with technology—one that supports learning and connection without taking them away from family, faith, and real-world relationships.
In Islam, we are reminded of our responsibility (amanah) to safeguard our children and guide them towards what benefits them in both this life and the next. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 7138)
This new regulation provides families an opportunity to nurture digital maturity and self-control (sabr) before children enter the online world. While this transition may be challenging, it also opens doors to strengthen communication at home, encourage outdoor and creative activities, and remind our children that their worth and belonging come from faith, family, and community—not online approval.
If your child is under 16 and currently uses social media, now is the perfect time to begin gentle, supportive conversations about the upcoming changes. Discuss how they can remain connected with friends and interests in ways that are safe and aligned with Islamic values.

Let us work together as parents, carers, and educators to help our children stay safe, balanced, and grounded in the values of Islam as they navigate today’s digital world.
We had the pleasure of welcoming a group of 19 visiting educators from Indonesia on Friday, 7 November 2025, representing Next Edu (Surabaya) and Al Azhar Cairo Islamic Schools.
The delegation included school leaders, supervisors, and teachers from kindergarten, primary, and secondary levels, accompanied by a student interpreter from Melbourne University. Mr. Abdul Kodir, Manager of Next Edu, shared his excitement about returning to Al Siraat College after a memorable visit last year.
The purpose of the visit was to gain insights into Al Siraat’s educational model, including its Islamic integration, Hifz program, and modern teaching practices, as well as the College’s approach to student engagement, leadership, and wellbeing.
The visit was facilitated by Ms. Shahidah, Head of Learning Enrichment & LEAP, who coordinated the program and guided the group. Delegates enjoyed guided tours of the Markaz, M Building, Primary, and TEAMS facilities, meeting Sheikh Waseem, Hifz students, and engaging with staff and students for a truly immersive experience.
The visit concluded with a networking morning tea in the Markaz building, where delegates connected with Al Siraat’s Executive Team, staff, and student leaders.
These visits are invaluable for cross-cultural exchange, shared learning, and strengthening educational ties between Indonesia and Australia. We thank Next Edu and Al Azhar Cairo Islamic Schools for visiting and look forward to future collaborations that continue to support our shared vision of holistic Islamic education.

Alhamdulillah, we are honoured to introduce “The Murabbi"- our new Islamic parenting magazine, now available online. Rooted in tarbiyyah and tawḥīd, The Murabbi seeks to inspire families to raise children with faith, compassion, and prophetic character.
It reflects our belief that parents are the first murabbis and teachers are co-murabbis, working together to nurture hearts connected to Allah ﷻ.
At The Murabbi, we believe that knowledge finds its true purpose when it inspires action. Each article encourages simple practical steps to bring the Sunnah alive within our homes and relationships.
Inside this inaugural issue:
- Tawheed @ Home – A Father’s Presence
- Prophetic Parenting Series – The gentleness of the Prophet ﷺ with children
- Revive a Sunnah – Simple Sunnah habits to bring back into our homes
