We are delighted to share historic and truly exceptional news with our College community. Al Siraat College has officially achieved the NUMBER ONE ranking in Victoria in the ISSAV Islamic School Sport Association Victoria Futsal and Basketball competition. This means ASC is now the top performing Islamic school in the entire state! Alhamdulillah, it is a milestone that fills us with immense pride.
This year’s tournament was one of the biggest competitions ever, featuring more than sixteen teams across both sports. Against strong and determined opponents, Al Siraat rose above all schools and finished in first place, a remarkable testament to the dedication, discipline, and talent of our students.
Throughout the competition, our players displayed outstanding sportsmanship, showing respect and earning respect from every team and coach involved. Their teamwork, effort, and commitment shone through in every game.
We now look forward to reaching new heights and continuing this success in future inter school championship cup competitions, inShaAllah.
A very big thank you goes to our incredible P. E. team (Mr Husain, Ms Franciscah and Ms Rayann) for their unwavering support and guidance. Their hard work has been instrumental in helping our sport teams achieve this number one ranking, alhamdulillah.

Our 2025 Canberra Camp provided Year 9 students with an enriching Civics and Citizenship experience, bringing their Humanities learning to life through visits to Australia’s most significant national institutions.
Students explored Parliament House, the Old Parliament House, the High Court, and the National Archives, gaining firsthand insight into how Australia’s democracy, laws and government systems work. They also visited the National Capital Exhibition, learning about the planning and development of Canberra as the nation’s capital.
The camp included engaging educational experiences at Questacon, moments of reflection at the Australian War Memorial, and opportunities to appreciate nature at the National Arboretum, National Botanical Garden, and the picturesque Old Parliament House Gardens. A stop at Mount Ainslie offered stunning views of the city and its surroundings.
The Australian Government supports young Australians visiting the national capital as part of Civics and Citizenship education. Al Siraat will be receiving a PACER rebate of $45 per student (higher for more distant schools), paid directly to the College. We thank the Government for their support – 2025 marks the seventh time our students have enjoyed this insightful interstate trip.
Our Year 9’s returned with a deeper understanding of Australia’s national identity, democratic processes, and cultural history. We are proud of how they represented Al Siraat College and grateful to all staff and families who supported this memorable learning experience.

This year has been a rewarding one for our After School Debate Club, with students demonstrating growth in confidence, critical thinking, and communication. A key highlight was our participation in the Senior British Parliamentary Debate Competition, hosted by the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) in August. Our students represented Al Siraat College with maturity, enthusiasm, and commendable teamwork.
To conclude the 2025 program, our final session recognised the dedication of all students involved. Certificates were presented to acknowledge:
• Participation in the Senior British Parliamentary DAV Competition
• Appreciation for ongoing involvement and commitment
• Excellence for outstanding debating performance
Special congratulations to Hadia Rashid (Year 11), who received the Excellence Award for her exceptional analytical skills, clarity of argument, and consistent leadership. Her achievement is a testament to her hard work and growing expertise.
It has been a pleasure to work with all members of the Debate Club. Their willingness to challenge ideas thoughtfully, collaborate with respect, and step outside their comfort zones reflects the strong learning culture at Al Siraat College.
Looking Ahead to 2026
In 2026, the After School Debate Club will be open to all students from Years 7 to 12. We encourage students of all experience levels to join us.
We look forward to welcoming new voices and supporting our students as they develop into confident, articulate leaders.

Our Year 10 Legal Studies students recently took part in an insightful and eye opening excursion to the historic Pentridge Prison. The visit brought their classwork to life in a powerful way and offered a deeper understanding of Australia’s criminal justice system.
The morning began with a guided tour through the prison grounds, allowing students to explore the various units and gain a sense of what life behind the bluestone walls once looked like. A particular highlight was the visit to the notorious H Division. Known as the strictest part of Pentridge Prison, H Division enforced military style discipline where prisoners were required to walk at quick march speed at all times. This strict regime aimed to enforce absolute control and order.
Seeing the harsh living conditions first hand helped students connect their classroom learning to real life. They learnt that while Pentridge certainly achieved its aim of punishment, rehabilitation was far less successful, with nearly two thirds of prisoners later returning to custody for committing other crimes.
This excursion gave our students a memorable learning experience and encouraged thoughtful reflection on justice, responsibility and the role of correctional institutions in society.
We were delighted to welcome back our Youth Halaqa Program this term, beginning with the Boys’ Session held on Friday, 14 November 2025. The program once again lived up to its reputation, bringing together over 60 of our Years 6 to 12 students and alumni for an afternoon of faith, learning, sports and brotherhood.
This term, we expanded the program to include our Year 6 students as they transition into Secondary School. The afternoon began with energetic sports activities. Students then enjoyed a relaxed “Pizza & Chill” dinner in the Musallah, sitting sunnah-style and bonding over a shared meal.
The highlight of the evening was the Halaqa session delivered by our very own alumni student Ayoub Godfrey, who shared an inspiring reminder encouraging students to strengthen their Islamic identity and deepen their connection to their faith. The boys concluded the program with Asr prayer in congregation in the Musallah.
JazakAllah khairan for the efforts of Mr Saleh, Mr Aabeer, Mr Javed, Mr Haroon, Mr Hafidi, Mr Kaan and Mr Luqmahn for their support and time in coordinating this event.
We thank all staff, volunteers and alumni for supporting this important initiative and we look forward to hosting more Youth Halaqa programs in the year ahead.
