We are proud to celebrate the wonderful achievement of our Year 7 student Zayn A., who has been selected in the U13 EDFL Division 1 Interleague Squad.

This is an outstanding accomplishment and a reflection of Zayn’s dedication, perseverance and passion for football. Being chosen to represent his league alongside some of the top players in his age group is a significant milestone, and we are delighted to see his hard work recognised.

Reflecting on this achievement, Zayn shared:

“Alhamdulillah, I am very proud to share that I have been selected in the U13 EDFL Division 1 Interleague Squad. This is a really special achievement for me because it means I get the chance to represent my league and play with and against some of the best players in my age group.

Being selected makes me feel happy, proud, and motivated. It shows me that all the effort I have put into football over the years has paid off. It reminds me that with faith in Allah (SWT), hard work, patience, and belief in yourself, good opportunities can come your way.

I am looking forward to learning new skills, improving my game, and challenging myself at a higher level. I also feel very thankful for this opportunity. Alhamdulillah for everything, and I pray Allah continues to guide me, protect me, and bless me in my football journey.”

We congratulate Zayn on this fantastic achievement and commend him for representing our College with humility, gratitude and determination. We pray Allah (SWT) continues to place barakah in his journey and grants him ongoing success both on and off the field.

Last week, our Years 4 – 6 Primary students proudly represented the College at the SSV Tee Ball District Tournament, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, sportsmanship and determination throughout the day.

MashaAllah, our boys Tee Ball team achieved a remarkable result, finishing in 1st place undefeated and bringing home the championship trophy. The students displayed excellent skill, focus and teamwork in every match, making the College community incredibly proud.

Our Year 5/6 girls team also performed exceptionally well under the leadership of Coach Ms Rayann, finishing in an impressive 2nd place in the 2026 SSV Tee Ball Tournament. Their enthusiasm, perseverance and positive attitude were evident throughout the competition.

Congratulations to all of our students and staff involved on these wonderful achievements. We are extremely proud of the effort, sportsmanship and dedication shown by both teams. Keep up the fantastic work!

Our three Indigenous Outreach Student Leaders Rayaan S., Mahmoud K. and Muhammad A. from Year 7 had the honour of attending the annual National Sorry Day Commemoration hosted by the City of Whittlesea at the Civic Centre in South Morang.

National Sorry Day is observed each year on 26 May to acknowledge and remember the Stolen Generations: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities and culture under past government policies. The day marks the anniversary of the 1997 Bringing Them Home Report, which documented the trauma and injustices experienced by First Nations peoples across Australia.

The students observed the traditional smoking ceremony in the Civic Centre forecourt, followed by official proceedings in the Great Hall, which was filled to capacity with community members, Elders, organisations, students and local residents coming together in reflection, respect and remembrance.

Attendees heard heartfelt speeches from Mayor Cr Lawrie Cox and Deputy Mayor Cr Blair Colwell, while guest speaker Uncle Charles Pakana shared powerful reflections on truth-telling, healing and the ongoing journey towards reconciliation.

Our students joined all guests on the annual Sorry Walk organized by the Whittlesea Reconciliation Group. This symbolic walk provided an opportunity for individuals to acknowledge past wrongs and express their apologies.

As a mark of mourning, respect and remembrance, flags at the council offices were flown at half-mast throughout the day. This symbolic gesture honoured the lives, cultures and family connections impacted by these policies and recognised the deep grief still carried by many survivors and their descendants today.

Our students represented the College with maturity, compassion and respect as they listened, reflected and stood alongside the wider community in acknowledging this important day. Experiences such as these provide valuable opportunities for our young leaders to deepen their understanding of Australia’s history, the importance of reconciliation and the ongoing significance of listening to and learning from First Nations voices.

Our Year 4 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Western Treatment Plant last week, where they explored the important role water plays in our everyday lives and the environment. The visit supported their learning about the Urban Water Cycle and gave students a valuable opportunity to see large-scale water treatment and recycling processes up close.

During the day, students discovered that the Western Treatment Plant spans an area almost as large as Phillip Island and processes close to half of Melbourne’s wastewater. As they toured the site, they learned how water travels through drains, pipes, treatment ponds, and recycling systems before being safely reused.

Students were especially intrigued by the many surprising facts shared throughout the excursion, including:

• Melbourne’s very first toilet was flushed in 1857
• Thousands of migratory shorebirds travel from Siberia each year to the wetlands surrounding the plant.

The excursion sparked meaningful conversations about sustainability, conservation, and the connection between healthy ecosystems and responsible water use. Students asked insightful questions, engaged enthusiastically in discussions, and gained a deeper appreciation for the hidden infrastructure that supports our growing city.

It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning and discovery. Thank you to our dedicated Year 4 staff and TAs for supporting students throughout this wonderful experience.

Our Year 5 students recently took part in an engaging incursion focused on weathering and erosion. Through a series of hands-on observational experiments, they explored how natural forces slowly break down and move materials in the environment.

Students used chalk, sand, containers, vinegar and sugar cubes to simulate real-world processes, including the effect of acid on rocks and how particles are worn away over time.

The activities helped our students see that weathering is not just something that happens “out there” in nature, but a process that can be modelled, observed and understood through careful investigation

It was wonderful to see our Year 5’s working collaboratively, making predictions, observing changes closely and connecting their experiments to the way rocks, landforms and landscapes change over time.

Our Year 8 students recently participated in an exciting educational excursion to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), where they had the opportunity to explore both the Australian Sports Museum and the iconic stadium itself.

During the visit, students engaged with a range of interactive exhibits at the Australian Sports Museum, learning about Australia’s rich sporting culture, famous athletes, and the important role sport plays in Australian society.

The excursion also provided meaningful connections to Year 8 Mathematics: Our students were taken on a guided tour around the MCG, where they learnt about the history and significance of one of Australia’s most well-known sporting venues. The tour provided valuable insights into the stadium’s infrastructure, including its seating design, media areas, player facilities, change rooms, and function spaces. Students explored real-life applications of measurement, geometry, scale, statistics, and problem-solving through the stadium’s design, crowd capacity, sporting data, and infrastructure planning.

In addition, students also gained an understanding of how the various facilities within the stadium operate together to support major sporting and community events.

The excursion provided students with a meaningful real-world learning experience, connecting history, sport, teamwork, and large-scale event management in an engaging and memorable environment.
