This year’s National Science Week theme “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All” provided the perfect focus for exploring how scientific knowledge grows through curiosity, investigation and discovery.
Our Year 6 students have been stepping into the role of young scientists during their visits to the Science Laboratory. Students have been learning about the different parts of a microscope, how to focus and use it correctly, and how to examine prepared slides in detail. These hands-on sessions have given students an exciting opportunity to investigate a world that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
Students also learnt about the importance of seed banks and how they help conserve plant species for the future. They investigated the conditions plants need to grow and conducted an experiment testing the effect of water on plant growth. Students will continue monitoring their seedlings and, Insha'Allah, the successfully sprouted plants will eventually be planted around the school.
Hifz students created their own sprout houses, designing small houses and covering the roofs with seeds. As the seeds germinate and grow, students can observe first-hand how water, light and suitable conditions support plant growth.
These activities also provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the Names and attributes of Allah SWT, recognising Allah SWT as the Creator, Sustainer and Provider of all living things. Watching a tiny seed begin to grow encouraged students to reflect on the beauty, complexity and signs of Allah SWT’s creation around us.
Our Year 5 students explored how heat can release substances into the air using Vicks VapoShower tablets as a simple model. Working in small groups, students placed pieces of the tablet into warm water and observed how the steam carried the scents of eucalyptus, camphor and menthol. The investigation also provided an opportunity to connect their learning with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ knowledge of plants and their properties for health and wellbeing.
From peering through microscopes to watching tiny seeds begin to sprout, Science Week gave students the chance to experience science in action. Most importantly, it encouraged them to keep asking questions, making discoveries and looking more closely at the incredible world around them with curiosity that we hope continues well beyond Science Week.

Our Secondary students celebrated National Science Week 2026 under this year’s theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all”, with a fantastic week of hands on activities, challenges and celebrations.
Year 7: Mousetrap Car Challenge
Students explored forces, motion and design as they created and tested mousetrap powered cars, solving problems along the way and enjoying some friendly competition.
Year 8: Dress Up Science Parade
Science came to life through a colourful Dress Up Science Parade, with students representing figures and concepts including Einstein, Galileo, red blood cells and white blood cells. Their creativity was fantastic!
Year 9: Science Scavenger Hunt
Students put their scientific knowledge and problem solving skills to the test, racing around the College to follow clues and complete a series of science based challenges.
Year 10: Sustainable DNA Models
Students combined scientific understanding and creativity to construct DNA models using a range of materials, while considering sustainability in their designs.
Year 11: Scientific Escape Room
Working in teams, students tackled a series of scientific clues and challenges, demonstrating excellent teamwork, perseverance and problem solving.
Year 12: Science Celebration
Year 12 students celebrated the completion of their course content after a year of hard work and commitment, enjoying some well deserved time together with their classmates and teachers.

Our much loved Islamic Book Fair is taking on Thursday and Friday to help celebrate Children’s Book Week place today and tomorrow, giving our students and families a wonderful opportunity to discover new books and celebrate the joy of reading.
Reading holds a special place in our Islamic tradition. The very first words revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ were “Read in the Name of your Lord who created”, highlighting the importance of reading, learning and seeking knowledge.
Books are more than simply stories to enjoy. They are treasures that open doors to knowledge, imagination and understanding. For children, regular reading also helps develop vocabulary, language skills, comprehension and a lifelong love of learning.
Our Book Fair provides a wonderful opportunity for students to browse, choose books that interest them and build their own little collections of knowledge and stories. Whether discovering an Islamic story, learning about the lives of the Prophets or simply getting lost in a wonderful adventure, every book can inspire curiosity and learning.
We encourage our families to nurture a love of books at home too. Sharing stories, reading together and making time for books can become a beautiful family habit and a lasting investment in our children’s learning.

As part of our Children’s Book Week celebrations this week, our Foundation to Year 2 students enjoyed a beautiful Sunnah Picnic with their parents, carers and teachers.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful parents who joined us and brought along beautiful books and lovely treats to share with our students. The children had a wonderful time enjoying the picnic, listening to stories, sharing with one another and making special memories together.
It was such a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading while also embracing the sunnah of sharing food and spending time together as a community.

As we kicked off Children’s Book Week 2026, our Foundation to Year 2 students enjoyed a very special Islamic Storytime reading session today.
We were fortunate to have our leadership and management team members visit our F–2 classrooms to share beautiful Islamic stories with our students, helping to nurture their love of reading and encourage a deeper connection with Islamic books and teachings.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, listening to the stories with excitement and taking part in engaging activities. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, enthusiasm and joy throughout the sessions.
A heartfelt Jazakum Allahu khairan to everyone who generously gave their time to make this Islamic Storytime so meaningful and memorable for our young learners. May Allah reward you all abundantly for your time, support and dedication.

Our Year 3 students have been celebrating Children’s Book Week with plenty of creativity and imagination through their Book Hat Design Competition!
Inspired by their favourite books, characters and stories, students transformed their ideas into colourful and imaginative hats. From much loved characters to memorable story elements, each design showcased the unique creativity and personality of its young creator.
The competition was a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of reading while encouraging students to think creatively and explore the stories that capture their imaginations. It has been fantastic to see how books can inspire our students not only to read, but also to create, imagine and bring their favourite stories to life.
The classroom was filled with excitement as students proudly shared their designs and admired the wonderful creations of their classmates. Each hat represented the time, effort and enthusiasm our students put into celebrating their favourite stories.
A huge well done to all our Year 3 students for their fantastic creativity, effort and participation. We loved seeing the wonderful range of book inspired designs!

Our Year 4 students had a fantastic time celebrating Idiom Accessory Day! Students arrived wearing creative accessories inspired by their favourite idioms, bringing plenty of laughter and imagination to the classroom.
From “being on cloud nine” to “going bananas,” our students really “hit the nail on the head” with their clever and very creative ideas!
The day was a wonderful opportunity to explore the meaning of idioms while having fun with language. We certainly had a “whale of a time”, and Year 4 proved that learning can be as fun as a “piece of cake”!

Our Year 5 and 6 students have enjoyed a wonderful week of activities celebrating Children’s Book Week, with opportunities to get creative, put their book knowledge to the test and share their love of reading.
Their week began with students bringing their favourite stories to life through a diorama project. As part of their homework, students created a detailed diorama depicting a favourite scene from a book they had read. Masha Allah, we were incredibly impressed by the creativity, effort and attention to detail shown in the many wonderful creations. Each class selected a winning entry, with prizes awarded for outstanding designs.
Students also took part in a fun Book Scavenger Hunt, putting their book knowledge and detective skills to the test as they worked through a series of book themed clues and challenges during class.
The celebrations continued with an opportunity for students to purchase a new book, encouraging them to discover new stories and authors and build their own home libraries.
It has been a fantastic week filled with creativity, imagination and a shared love of books. A huge well done to our Year 5 and 6 students for embracing each activity with such enthusiasm and making Book Week a memorable celebration of reading!
