We are excited to announce the newly elected 2026 College Captains, Halimah Sheikh (Girls) and Ahmed Ismail (Boys), alongside their Vice-Captains, Hadia Rashid (Girls) and Hashim Khan (Boys), to the Al Siraat community.
Each of these students has shown exceptional leadership qualities and a strong sense of responsibility. They have been selected not only for their accomplishments but also for their character, compassion, and consistent contribution to school life.
And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and when they were certain of Our signs.” - Qur’an 32:24
This verse reminds us that leadership is grounded in patience, sincerity and trust in Allah. We pray that our new leaders uphold these values in their service to the College. May Allah guide them, strengthen them, and grant them success in their leadership journey. Ameen.
As they step into their new roles, our 2026 Captains and Vice-Captains will embody this philosophy by supporting student voice, promoting school values and contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our 2025 College Captains Aaliyah Farah, Amaar Hamida, Nusayr Sultan and Farhan Abid for their efforts and involvement during their time in leadership. We wish them every success in their future endeavours.
We congratulate our 2026 College Leaders and look forward to the positive contributions they will make throughout the coming year. Please join us in congratulating our 2026 College Captain and Vice-Captain.
The College College proudly hosted its Annual Family Fun Day on Saturday, 22 November, transforming our grounds into a colourful and lively festival for students, families and community.
Families enjoyed an exciting range of attractions including camel rides, delicious food stalls, gift, craft and clothing stalls, engaging activities, henna art, face painting, and much more. The atmosphere was warm, joyful and filled with smiling faces throughout the afternoon.
The stage program added a wonderful sense of celebration to the day, beautifully hosted by our MCs, newly appointed 2026 College Girls Captain Halimah Sheikh and Vice-Captain Hadia Rashid. It opened with a Qur'an recitation by one of our Hifz students, followed by cultural performances including uplifting nasheeds by our ASC Songbirds and a heartfelt Urdu Language School segment featuring nasheeds in Urdu.
A clear crowd favourite was the captivating Wildlife Exposure Show, which was both engaging and educational, drawing enthusiastic applause from children and adults alike. College Wildlife Ambassador Ms Tanja talked about the importance of calling either local The Wildlife Rescuers on 0417 506 941 or Wildlife Victoria for pouch checks on injured or deceased wildlife.
The program also included a powerful Incinerator Awareness presentation by Year 11 students Nawal Jaleel and Environmental Ambassador Aicha Hamel.
The afternoon concluded with closing remarks and a heartfelt du'a of gratitude by Principal Fazeel Arain.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all teams involved in planning and delivering this year’s Al Siraat College Family Fun Day. Your collective efforts created a memorable and meaningful experience for our entire community.

This term, the ASC Incinerator Action Group launched a special student poster competition aimed at raising awareness about the potential environmental impact of the proposed Wollert incinerator.
The competition inspired an overwhelming response from students across our Primary School who submitted highly creative, thoughtful and visually impactful posters. With so many outstanding entries, selecting finalists was no easy task for our judging panel of more than ten staff members.
1st Prize Winner
Sarim Siddiqui (Year 4): My Clean and Green Wollert
Congratulations to Sarim who is our overall winner of the poster competition. His winning poster is now on display in the front of the College, proudly supported by Ray White Wollert.
Sarim’s powerful artwork contrasts a clean and green Wollert with a future impacted by an incinerator. The imagery serves as a meaningful reminder of the importance of protecting our environment and preserving the wellbeing of our growing community.
Congratulations to our three main runner-ups:
- 1st Runner-Up: Noriza Bukhari (Year 6G4) – “Clean Air, healthy future for Wollert”
- 2nd Runner-Up: Kabir Sheikh (Year 5B1) – “We Choose: Clean Air”
- 3rd Runner-Up: Abdul Basit Mubarak (Year 6B1) – “Breathe like your life depends on it"
We sincerely thank all the students who participated in this competition. Your creativity, passion and commitment to environmental stewardship were truly inspiring.

This week, our Year 7 Transition Program warmly welcomed both our current Year 6 students and newly enrolled students who will be joining us in 2026. Held over two engaging days on Monday and Tuesday, the program provided an exciting introduction to Secondary School life at Al Siraat.
Students were greeted with warmth, professionalism and enthusiasm by our dedicated staff. Whether transitioning from our Primary School or joining us for the first time, every student experienced a supportive environment designed to ease nerves, spark curiosity and build confidence for the year ahead. The feedback we received from students has been incredibly positive, alhamdulillah.
Throughout the program, students took part in engaging classes, team building activities and valuable connection time with their teachers. These experiences were made possible through the collective effort of staff across departments who contributed their time, energy and expertise to ensure a smooth, welcoming and memorable transition.
This year also marked the introduction of our Secondary School Transition first parent session, with approximately 40 parents attending. Their involvement added tremendous value and helped strengthen our partnership with families as they prepare their children for the move into secondary school.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone whose hard work and dedication contributed to the success of the Year 7 Orientation Program. Your commitment and teamwork have helped set our incoming 2026 cohort up for a confident and successful start to their secondary school journey.

Our Year 2 students embarked on an exciting excursion to the Werribee Open Range Zoo as part of their Humanities inquiry into “Culture and Connection to Places”.
The day was filled with wonder, discovery, and meaningful learning as students explored how people, animals, and environments are connected in different ways: Students enjoyed the iconic safari bus tour, where they observed animals roaming freely across wide open plains, similar to their homes in Africa.
This experience helped students understand how different environments shape the way animals live, survive, and adapt. They also learned about how cultural stories, traditions, and practices are deeply linked to the land.
A highlight of the day was when students gathered in a circle with the zoo educators to listen to cultural stories and learn about the importance of caring for Country. Students had the opportunity to handle and explore different natural materials, gaining an understanding of how communities connect with the land in meaningful ways.
This hands-on learning helped students make real-world connections to what they have been exploring in class.
As part of our Interfaith Program, the Year 9 Interfaith Ambassadors joined students from St Monica’s College in Epping for an enriching excursion designed to deepen appreciation of diverse faith traditions and promote respectful dialogue.
The day began with a guided tour of St Patrick’s Cathedral, where students explored its architecture, artwork and sacred spaces, gaining valuable insights into Christian traditions and worship.
Students then visited the Islamic Museum of Australia (IMA), where galleries showcased the richness of Islamic history, art and civilisation. Exhibits closely linked to our Islamic Studies curriculum, allowing students to connect classroom learning with real world cultural examples.
A highlight was an engaging presentation by Jacquie Bourtzis, who spoke on Islam and contemporary society. Students asked thoughtful questions, shared reflections and participated in open dialogue, promoting intellectual curiosity and mutual respect.
This partnership between Al Siraat College and St Monica’s College demonstrates the positive impact of interfaith initiatives in fostering empathy, understanding and cooperation across communities.
The excursion was a memorable experience that broadened perspectives and strengthened students’ commitment to cultural awareness and interfaith harmony.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all staff and students who contributed to this valuable learning experience.
