ASCA Cricket Academy

Updated October 2023

The Al Siraat Cricket Academy (ASCA) has been designed to provide students the opportunity to participate in a cricket program designed to improve their cricket skills and fitness levels, becoming better cricket players but more importantly better people. The academy aims to provide a holistic approach to learning and developing involving nutrition, fitness, skills training and mental and spiritual health and wellbeing education.

The ASCA players have participated in excursions to indoor and outdoor training facilities to participate in net sessions. We have performed fitness and skill development sessions twice per week, including fitness and fielding awards, video analysis of batting and bowling techniques and short courses on umpiring, scoring and coaching.

The College has made significant investments into the program including:

  • A portable cricket net
  • A portable cricket pitch
  • A state of the art strength and conditioning facility
  • New cricket training and playing equipment
  • Specific Cricket Academy uniforms.

We would like to thank our sponsors who have made such purchases possible. Without their support, the boys would not have been given the environment to improve their cricket.

Specifically, we would like to thank:

  • Zain Real Estate
  • Craigieburn Halal Quality Meats
  • Sanz Australia
  • Afiouni Used Car Sales.

We are looking at having a grand opening celebration once COVID-19 restrictions ease to thank and recognise the charity of our sponsors in developing the Al Siraat Cricket Academy, and the start of what will be a significant benefit to the College and the cricket playing members of this prestigious academy.

Future goals of the academy include:

  • Staff vs student cricket matches
  • Interschool cricket matches
  • Excursions to indoor cricket training facilities
  • Interstate cricket trips
  • Overseas cricket trips.

We hope to see all academy members join a community cricket club, where they can display their cricketing abilities, but most importantly their personalities and individual qualities as an Australian Muslim, being a good example for Al Siraat College. And who knows, maybe one day an ASCA member will represent their state or their country at the highest level.
