Year 2 Excursion to Cook’s Cottage

Students in two of our Year 2 classes were very fortunate right in between two lockdowns to be able to experience history coming alive on their visit yesterday to Captain Cook’s Cottage.

The students have been learning about Captain Cook in class as part of "history of my community" in Humanities. The excursion was a great opportunity for them to visit the actual house that Captain Cook lived in. This house was actually disassembled and transported from Yorkshire, England to Melbourne where it was reassembled, brick by brick. The students enjoyed the excursion tremendously.

We first enjoyed a walk through the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens near the CBD before getting immersed in the rich history of Cooks' Cottage and learning about the significance of this important heritage and cultural site.
