On the 21st of April, our Year 8-9 Senior Boys students participated in the 2015 Annual Islamic Schools FUTSAL Cup, played at Coburg Indoor Basketball Stadium.
Futsal is the official FIFA version of indoor soccer and indeed the only internationally recognised small sided game. Futsal uses a special low bounce ball, which encourages players to develop skills, sharpen their reflexes and improve their decision-making under pressure. With a 4 second restart rule, small playing area and unlimited substitutions the game offers non-stop action and significantly increases a player’s speed of play.
In overall, our Senior boys scored more than 10 goals in the 7 games played. They earned respect from the other schools that were defeated. Ten 10 boys in total were selected to form the Al Siraat team and their efforts, team spirit and sportsmanship was acknowledge by all who were watching.
Well done, boys, on all your hard work for our team. I am greatly looking forward to coaching the Al Siraat College team next year once again, inshaAllah.
