Sporting Schools Program takes Students to Greater Heights

In Term three, the Sporting Schools Program helped enrich our school’s PE programs including track and field athletics.

Al Siraat’s sports program included an extensive and engaging athletics program. Students from Foundation through to Year 10 were involved in the introduction of fundamental track and field skills; these included Javelin, shot put, discus, running and jump events.

Much to our gratitude, Al Siraat was awarded with the Sporting Schools program. This grant has been implemented over two terms, and not only did it support the Athletics program, it is also provided Al Siraat with support towards the Basketball and Soccer programs as well. A very notable inclusion is the new set of much needed soccer goals for the sports oval, long jump pit and javelin sets. This has been a welcoming addition and has provided greater quality to the each of our programs.

Coaches Layal Tannous and Daniel Saleh have been working throughout their lunchtime breaks and afterschool to deliver the basketball and soccer programs. Just recently, Mr Saleh has been selected to assist with the AFL in the Bachar Houli Academy, in the coaching of talented players from across Australia. This is a testament to Mr Saleh’s dedication and enthusiasm for both Soccer and AFL.

We look forward to continuing the fantastic sporting programs and we are grateful to be part of the Sporting Schools Program.
